Abstract:This study was carried out in order to reveal the values of children's books which are widely read and to determine their suitability for the children as a target group. First of all, in order to determine the widely read children's books, the popular books from the popular books selling sites on the internet, the big bookstores and publishers in Ankara were reached. The most read books of each category were chosen among the books which were classified appropriate to the story and novel classification according to the way they handle subjects, themes and characters, and study materials consisting of 6 books were determined. The values addressed in books, which are used as data collection tools, were coded using the 'value analysis table' and it is analyzed with content analysis method. As a result of the study, it was determined that the most widely read children's book had a high rate of 40.64% in negative processing of values and elevated 'popularity' as a value. In the other books, such a treat was not encountered and it is concluded that values can be taught to the children through widely read/popular children books.
