Abstract:The review of general characteristics of the illustrations in the fable books of different countries has been aimed in this study. To this end a fable book which has been published after 2009 from Turkey, Germany, Spain, France,Russia and the Czech Republic has been singled out. The morphological characteristics which have been developed by the Mercan(2015), the five point likert type Book Illustrations rating scale which are composed of the illustration-text relation and the illustration-child dimensions have been employed to describe the illustration characteristics in the fable books. It has been found that the lowest score has been obtained by the one which is published in Turkey, the one which is published in France has scored the high mark in terms of total scores of the characteristics of the illustrations in the fable books. It has been concluded that the general illustration characteristics, the morphological characteristics of the illustrations, illustration-text relation and illustration-child relation in the books which have been published in Turkey, Germany, Spain, France, Russia and the Czech Republic are significantly diverse in reference to the countries.
