Abstract:
The purpose of this study; to reveal the digital dependency levels of teachers and administrators in secondary education institutions and to examine whether independent variables such as gender, age, education level and daily internet usage period cause a significant difference in the digital dependence of teachers and administrators. Data from 541 people were used in this survey, which was conducted according to the general screening model. Data were collected with Personal Information Form and Digital Addiction Scale, which was named as Game Addiction, Social Media Addiction and Impact on Daily Life. According to the results of the research, among the general and sub-dimensions of the teachers' Digital Dependency Scale, Game Dimension and Impact Dimension on Social Life showed significant differences according to gender. The average of men's dependence level for Digital Addiction Scale, Negative Impact on Social Life, Game Size is higher than that of women. There was no significant difference in social media dimension of teachers. There was no significant difference in the Digital Dependence Scale of the Managers, Game Dimension, Negative Impact Dimension to Social Life and Social Media Dimension. While the Game Dimension and Social Media Dimension of the teachers 'Digital Dependency Scale sub-dimensions differ significantly according to age, the teachers' Digital Dependency Scale overall and the Digital Dependency Scale Negative Impact Dimension do not show a significant difference. the Digital Dependency Scale sub-dimensions, the Game Dimension and the Social Media Dimension, the average of teachers in the 26-30 age range is higher than the average of other age groups. While there was no significant difference in the Digital Dependency Scale of the Managers, Negative Impact on Social Life and Social Media Dimension, a significant difference was observed only in the game dimension of the Digital Dependency Scale of the managers. For Game Size, the average of the managers in the 31-35 age range is higher than the average of the other age groups. Digital Dependency Scale and none of the sub-dimensions show significant differences according to education level. Teachers' Digital Dependency Scale and all subscales differ significantly according to daily internet usage time. Digital Addiction Scale for Game Size; The average score of game dimension dependency level of the teachers who are 6 and more hours according to the daily internet usage period is significantly higher. Digital Addiction Scale for Social Media Dimension; The average score of Social Media Dimension addiction level of teachers who have 4-5 hours of daily internet usage is significantly higher. For the Digital Addiction Scale Negative Impact Dimension to Social Life, the average score of the Social Media Dimension addiction level of teachers who were 4-5 hours compared to the daily internet usage period was significantly higher. For the Digital Addiction Scale, the mean score of digital dependence of the teachers who were 0-1 hours compared to the daily internet usage time was significantly lower, but there was no significant difference between the other groups. While there was no significant difference in the Digital Dependence Scale of the Managers, Negative Impact Dimension on Social Life and Game Dimension, a significant difference was observed only on the Social Media Dimension of the managers' Digital Dependency Scale. Digital Addiction Scale for Social Media Dimension; The average score of Social Media Dimension dependency level of the administrators who are 4-5 hours compared to the daily internet usage period is significantly higher.
