Abstract:
This descriptive study was conducted to determine the views of nurses about the use of nurse handover structured according to the SBAR communication technique in Ankara Private Güven Hospital. The research was carried out with 124 nurses working in inpatient clinics and actively using the SBAR method in the handover processes and agreeing to participate in the study. The data were collected with the descriptive characteristics data collection form developed by the researcher and the “Nurse Opinions Questionnaire Form Regarding the Use of Nurse Handover-Delivery Structured According to SBAR Communication Technique”, and the descriptive analyzes were given with frequency, percentage analysis, mean and standard deviation values. 90.32% of the participants stated that they didn’t have any difficulties while using SBAR, most of them stated that the SBAR method increased information transfer and quality, prevented medication errors, and gained the ability to provide holistic and safe care. The highest level of agreement with the propositions about the SBAR method was the statements " ensures up-to-date patient information" (x=9,23 ±1.20) "It is easy to follow information about the patient " (x=9,10±1,23) and "SBAR method makes it easier for me to give advice about patient care" (x=9,06±1,25). As a result; Nurses' opinions about handover structured according to the SBAR communication method were evaluated positively in all dimensions, and the use of the SBAR method in nurse handovers was recommended by the researchers in terms of both expressing the positive outputs by the participants and being highly accepted by the nurses.
