Abstract:

Hüseyin Nihal Atsiz came to the world as a child of a military family in Istanbul on January 12, 1905. His years have been a period of intense confusion in terms of Turkish political life. He witnessed the destruction of an empire and the emergence of a new regime and state. In the years when the Ottoman identity has been stripped off and the Turkish identity has been tried to be brought to the forefront, it has been the advocate of the Turkish identity. It became the most important advocate and leader after Ziya Gökalp's idea of Turkism which gained momentum in the 1930s. What distinguishes him from other thinkers is that this idea, which he advocated, has not only been influential in the world of thought but in all areas of his life. The general framework of the writings has been Turkish identity and culture. He has been active in publishing life and has published magazines in various ways. Hüseyin Nihal Atsız, who discovers the Turkish identity from the Ottoman Empire, a superior, competent, moral society, has passed away in 1975, leaving behind many defenders of his ideas.
