Abstract:The aim of this study was to determine the effects of motor impairment, balance, cognitive level, fatique and fall event on dual task gait performance and the relationship between these parameters. In this study twenty-nine patients with stroke referred to the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation in Gazi University Faculty of Medicine were included. Motor impairment was assessed with Rivearmead Motor Assesment, balance with CAT device, cognitive level with Mini Mental State Examination, fatigue with Fatigue Severity Scale and fall events with fall history. 10 meter walking test with comfortable, motor and cognitive tasks gait was demanded from patients and the gait speeds were recorded. The mean gait speed were 0,70m/sn in comfortable gait, 0,67m/sn in gait with motor task and 0,65m/sn in gait with cognitive task. The gait with cognitive task was found to have relatinship with both comfortable and motor task gait speed (p<0,05). It was determined that motor impairment, gait ability and balance had effect on comfortable gait; motor impairment and gait ability had effects on gait with motor task; gait ability, balance, trunk and leg motor impairments had effects on gait with cognitive task (p<0,05). It was detected that there were effective parameters in different circimstances in the motor and cognitive tasks gait beside comfortable gait tests in the patients with stoke diagnose. Owing to the fact that being the first research in the literature which investigates the factors that may effects gait with motor and cognitive tasks, it was expected to provide unique contrubutions.
