Abstract:In this study, microbiological analysis of 561 cosmetic products in Turkish cosmetic market were executed. 175 of 561 samples were preservative-involving, 386 samples were non-preservative-involving cosmetic products. Neutralization processes of cosmetic products containing preservatives were performed dispose antimicrobial effects of preservatives during microbiological analysis. In this study microbiological contamination were observed above limits of legal regulations in 163 of 561 cosmetic products. 16 (9,1%) of preservative-involving samples and 147 (38,1%) of non-preservative-involving samples were not suitable according to cosmetic regulations. Although pathogenic microorganisms could not be detected due to the effectiveness of the preservative substances used in cosmetic products, 14 S. aureus, 14 P. aeruginosa, 32 E. coli ve 9 C. albicans were detected in non-preservative-involving cosmetic products.
