Abstract:

The aim of this study is to give information about the contents of the theses that have been studied in the field of socioscientific issues in the field of science teaching and to guide future studies in the light of this information. For this purpose, 54 postgraduate studies, including 39 master's and 15 PhD theses, were accessed at the national thesis center of the Council of Higher Education (CHE), which were studied on socioscientific issues in the field of science teaching in Turkey between the years 2008-2022. The studies were examined by using the "Thesis Review Form" created by the researcher, taking into account the categories created from the content analysis studies carried out on the thesis review. In this research, the year the theses were studied, the university where the study was conducted, the research topic, the subject examined, the gender of the person who conducted the study, the sample size studied and the sample selection method, the study method used in the research, the design of the research, data analysis techniques, data collection tools, the study group and the language of the thesis. Examined in terms of research data were collected through document analysis. The data obtained were analyzed by the content analysis method and the findings were presented with frequency, percentage and tables. According to the findings obtained from the research, more postgraduate studies on socioscientific issues in science education; The study was conducted in Middle East Technical University, the language of study was Turkish, female researchers focused on the subject, the sample size was preferred between 0-50, with university students, the sampling method was purpose-based sampling from non- random sampling method, the subjects were generally gathered under the socioscientific heading , it has been seen that "Attitude" is studied as a subject area, qualitative research methods are preferred, scale is used as data collection tool, and qualitative data analysis method is used in data analysis. For the benefit of researchers who will work on socioscientific issues in science education, a bibliography analysis has been made. Based on the findings and results obtained in the study, various suggestions were made to researchers who will conduct new research on socioscientific issues in science education.
