Abstract:

In this study the IR spectrum of C7H6N2 [imidazo(1,2-a)pyridine] ligand was recorded, its vibrational frequencies and modes were determined. Vibrational assigments were proposed for the ligand. Theoretical vibrational frequencies of the ligand were obtained by the aid of Gaussian03 computer software and then those were compared with the experimental data. Besides, general formula of MX2L2 [ M = Co, Cu, Zn; X = Cl, Br, I; L = C7H6N2 ] compounds have been prepared for the first time. The IR spectra of complexes were reported, and vibrational frequencies were obtained. The result of the C, H, N analysis of the complexes were also given. Frequency shifts caused by the formation of complexes have been interpreted.
