Abstract:

THE IMPORTANCE OF DRIVER TRAINING COURSES IN THE PREVENTION OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ( M.Sc Thesis ) DİLEK BA?CI GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 1995 ABSTRACT In this study, the first chapter is devoted to a general discussion of traffic accidents where as the second to an investigation of traffic education. It is our strong belief that a well ordered and safe traffic requires effectively adducted people about traffic, road and vehicle safety. It is for this reason that we examined driving schools, which are charged with training and education of traffic, with in the preparatory research of this thesis. Asya, Uslu and Durak driving schools in Çankaya district of Ankara were selected randomly to collect data by means of questionnaire forms distributed to about 120 driver candidates, once at the beginning of the course and once after the graduation. Data obtained in this way have been arranged and presented in tables. In the evaluation of data, certain techniques such as frequency distribution, graphics percentage, t-tests and single - factor variance analysis have been used. The last chapter is devoted to the interpretation of the statistical results obtained previously.
