Abstract:The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the self-efficacy towards teaching and musical ability of music teacher candidates in the music education departments of the Turkish Music State Conservatory and Education Faculties. While the senior students of music departments of faculties of education and Turkish Music State Conservatories from several universities in Turkey consist the population of the research; a total of 282 pre-service teachers in the final year of education in Gaziantep University Turkish Music State Conservatory, Ege University State Turkish Music Conservatory, Sakarya State Conservatory, Gazi University Gazi Education Faculty Music Education Department, Necmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty Department of Music Education and Inönü University Faculty of Education Music Education Department have formed the sample of the research. The general survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, has been applied in this research. A personal information form developed by researcher, the teachers' self-efficacy scale developed by Gibson and Dembo and adapted to Turkish by Diken (2004), the self-efficacy scale for the musical ability developed by Özmenteş and Özmenteş (2008) were used as data collecting tool. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 program. It can be said that the self-efficacy perceptions of music teacher candidates' musical competence differ according to gender, and that there is a meaningful difference in favor of male teacher candidates. The results showed that the teachers 'self-efficacy perceptions were statistically significant according to the level of economic income, there was a meaningful difference between the self-efficacy perceptions of the education faculty and music teachers' perceptions towards the teacher's profession, which is positive for the teaching profession.
