Abstract:

In the present study of mine, the effect of the basic perspective education (presentation, showing doing, examining sample activity papers) provided for 7th Grade students in Visual Arts Courses on the drawings of students was examined. The painting of the students of Kulu Cumhuriyet Secondary School were examined in this respect. The study was conducted with forty 7th Graders who were selected randomly in 2018 2019 Academic Year. The Art Education, Purpose of Art Education, Methods of Art Education, Visual Arts Education, Visual Arts Course, History of Perspective, Perspective, Perspective Types, and the associations of these subjects with each other were examined in chapters in the present study. The evaluation criteria were prepared by considering the acquisitions mentioned in the primary school curriculum and the characteristics of 7th Grade students. Assistance was received from three experts in preparing the evaluation criteria. The evaluation of the students’ works was carried out by experts. This study was designed in the Single Group Pre test Post test Model, which is one of the experimental design types. In this model, the extent of the differences in one single group is examined. In the present study, first of all, the “I draw a ………….. street in the city” activity was carried out together with the students with the classical narration method. Then the students were given perspective education (presentation, examining sample activity papers), and then the students were asked to draw the same topic “I draw a ………….. street in the city” again. As a result of the present study, the preliminary and final works of the students were evaluated by the experts. These works were then analyzed by using the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) statistical program. Based on the findings that were obtained in the context of the present study, it was observed that students were able to use perspective in their drawings. In the present study, it was concluded that the basic perspective education in Visual Arts Courses (presentation, showing--doing, examining sample activity papers) enables students to use perspective better in their drawings.
