Abstract:

In this master's thesis/study, the novels of Necip Mahfuz were studied in terms of human

education and value education within this scope. As a sample, nine novels of Necip

Mahfuz, translated into Turkish by the Turkish translator Işıl Alatlı, were used. Novels

used as examples are as follows: The Quest, Mirrors, Beginning and Ending, Fall

Yearning, Honorable Sir,Palace Trip, Mirage, Sugar Street, Palace of Desire. These works

were examined in terms of giving place to the values/emotions/situations of pity, the

importance of being fair, morality, the importance given to family unity, humility, Belief in

God, peace, oppressive parental attitudes, life and norms of the West, science and religion,

impaired education system, ignorance, gender discrimination, being hardworking, honesty,

importance of education, being virtuous, equality, tolerance, betrayal, hypocrisy, human

education, goodness, fatalism, jealousy, arrogance, cultural difference, exploitation,

hospitality, hatred, generation difference, freedom, regret, bribery, patience, respect, love,

politics, responsibility, genetics, colonialism, lust, 9 be thankful, social rules, social status,

to show favor, to be sparing, patriotism, conscience, charity and 967 findings were

determined. Mahfuz's studied novels have a rich content in terms of human education. As a

result, it was concluded that Necip Mahfuz's works could be among the important sources

in terms of human education and values education.
