Abstract:

In recent years, along with especially the harm of fossil fuels to the environment and the gradual decrease of such energy resources, the need for clean energy resources has gradually increased due to the global warming and climate changes. Solar energy outshines as an alternative energy resource in Turkey and Iraq, where the insolation area and duration are very good in terms of their locations on earth. In this study, the design of the solar panel system which can automatically track the sun in order to the most efficiently utilize the solar energy among the clean energy resources was described. The parts constituting the system were introduced by describing the operation principle of the system which was designed, and of which prototype was made. The sun rays were provided to come down vertically onto the panel within the period from the sunset to the sunrise with the tracking panel system. Thus, achieving energy from sunlight at the maximum level was performed by utilizing the sunlight. Solar tracking system is established in a north - south axis manually, east - west axis with the date and time-based algorithm is controlled by computer software running. Experimental measurements of the system date and time-based followup has been conducted on the panel and a panel of fixed panel. Measurements were made during the day short and long are two different days. Every two days the fixed and tracking panel maximum power, voltage and current values measured at regular intervals unmeasured. In addition, the efficiency differences between the two systems weretheoretically calculated. When the data collected in these measurements were evaluated, efficiency increase of 51 % on 09/03/2010 and 20.4 % on 11/25/2010 were specified.
