Investigation of the Relation Between the Emotional Quotient and Social Adaptation Skills of The Children Going To Pre-School Classes

Abstract:

This study is related to the investigation of the relation between the emotional quotient and the social adaptation skills of age going to pre-school classes. The sample of the research was constituted by 266 randomly selected students from the pre-school classes of the primary schools together with their parents and teachers. The emotional quotient of the children was determined with the use of Sullivan emotional quotient Scale for the Children and Sullivan Evaluation Emotional Quotient of Children Scale for the Teachers. The social adaptation skills of the children were measured with Social Adaptation and Skills Scale. There was a positive correlation between the emotional quotient of the children and their social adaptation skills (P<0,05). However there were no significant differences among emotional quotient Scale , sub regions of emotional quotient Scale (faces, stories, understanding and management) , Evaluation of emotional quotient of Children Scale for the Teachers and Social Adaptation and Skills Scale mean total scores as regards to the gender and number of sisters and brothers of the children (P>0,05). There were observed meaningful differences between these scores as regards to the socio economical status and the age rank of the children (P<0,05).
