Abstract:

In this study, misconceptions emerged in middle school students perception of plants as "living" were researched. For this purpose, a scale of 30 items was used for the determination of the attitude towards "Science" course and a scale of 30 items was used for the determination of the conceptual misconceptions that emerged when the plants were perceived as "living". The obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS 22 packet program. As a result of the researches carried out, it was observed that the middle school students had misconceptions that the plants were not considered as living things. As a result, in the students, the plants emphasize easily observable features such as shape, color and smell; Respiration, circulation, excretion, reproduction, etc., have not been perceived as being alive.
