Abstract:The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effectiveness of the Guitar Method- I by Ziya Aydıntan and Enjoy Playing The Guitar Book- I methods by Debbie Cracknell. Two test groups were formed consisted of 10 students who didn't know how to play guitar. The researcher has given guitar lessons to each group using above mentioned method books for twenty-eight weeks. The lessons for each group were ninety minutes per week. While the first group was taught Guitar Method- I by Ziya Aydıntan, the outher group was taught Enjoy Playing The Guitar Book- I methods by Debbie Cracknell. At the end of the lessons a guitar performance scale, developed by Akçay (2011), was used to measure the student achievements. The data was analized by using Mann Whitney U Test . In this study, it was concluded that based on the selected pieces ; 1. there wasn't significant difference of basic behaviour, 2. there wasn't significant difference of technical behaviour, 3. there wasn't significant difference of musical effect and interpretation , 4. there wasn't significant difference of total point according to Mann Whitney U Test. Based on the finding of this research it may be concluded that factor of achivement of guitar education is determined not only guitar methods but also motivation, talent and training period.
