Abstract:
The translation activity between Arabic and Turkish focused on religious and classical texts for many years. But in recent years the translation activity between these two languages has on an increase in the field of literary translation. Increasing literary translations and the necessity of these translations to be more acceptable in the target culture has revealed the necessity to work in this field. This dissertation consists of two basic parts. First of all, the theoretical background has been established by giving general information about translation, translation theories, translation strategies and literary translation. After that general information was given about Arabic Literature and Modern Arabic Literature. Because of the author Najib al-Kilani became prominence in the field of Islamic literature, was focused on the concept of Islamic Literature and was given information about the author's life, literary personality and his novels translated into Turkish. In addition, it was emphasized the activity of literary translation in the modern period between Arabic and Turkish. Finally, the translations of the selected novels of the author were analyzed and evaluated in the context of translation strategies. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the use of appropriate translation strategies by translators will have an effect on the readability and comprehensibility of the target text, especially in literary translations.
