Abstract:

In this study, we report the successful synthesis and characterization of Al-doped ZnO (ZA) thin films prepared using a sol-gel spin coating technique annealed at 500 °C in N2 environment. Three different stabilizers and and six different solvents were used in the fabrication of films. As a stabilizer Monoethanolamine (MEA), Dimethanolamine (DEA) and Trimethanolamine (TEA) and as a solvent ethanol and 2-methoxyethanol (2-MxyE) were applied. Thus, the effects of the stabilizer-solvent combination on the structural, optical and especially gas detection properties of the films were systematically investigated. XRD, AFM, SEM and UV analysis as well as structural and optical properties of the films were studied. CO gas level was measured between room temperature and 250 ° C.The ZA thin film sensor response was determined by the change in the resistance of thefilm in the presence and absence of CO gas. The sensor with the TEA-2MxyE combinationshowed an optimal operating temperature at 220 °C and a maximum sensitivity at 77 % for25 ppm CO gas. In addition, dielectric and impedance analyses were performed at the 300K and 520 K temperature range. In addition, an arduino system was developed for thedetection and control of CO gas.
