Today, taking the advantages of technological developments, distance education programmes are applied in many different educational areas and numbers of those programmes are constantly increasing. In this thesis, the purpose is the teaching of the lesson mechanisms tutored in the field of engineering in universities and vocational schools, but using the web based distance education system. In this study, using PHP and HTML programming languages, MySQL database, Apache web server, Linux operating system, a platform has been chosen to work in compliance with the Learning Management System (LMS). In the prepared web platform, many transactions can now be made easily by the instructors, like management of mechanism lessons, add or remove of lesson contents etc. 2D and 3D drawings, the animations generated from these drawings are used keeping at the forefront of visuality within the frame of web based mechanism education. Contents developed and were used in the system are, communication applications like student add-remove, e-mail, and also assessment and evaluation practices like examination, evaluation, student performance tracking, exam statistics and student tracking systems. Purpose in the web based mechanism education is to reveal the basic rules to be used in examining the moves of things taking place in the machines. And second, to reveal the informations necessary for making the movement analysis and movement synthesis. So, with in this study, the purpose is to give remote education which is a need today, to more people in shorter time, in the fastest way and to longest distant.
