Abstract:In this study, design and technological properties of valuable paper and documents developed against forgery and falsification, forgery techniques, graphological verification methods in document-signature-handwriting forgery, minimal security elements which need to be carried by these documents and determination methods of these elements are examined. Questionnaire studies have been performed to investigate security situations of valuable paper and documents which are being used in Turkey. According to the results of these questionnaires, security deficiencies in valuable paper and official documents have been determined. After examination of these security deficiencies in diplomas have been found as worrisome. According to questionnaire results, a diploma, which can be a sample for similar formal documents, has been designed as a practicable model in design- and technology-wise against forgery, copying and falsification. Moreover, a layout design, which can be printed in a standard printing press but cannot be copied, has been also developed. In addition, it is derived that transferring the biometrical properties like signature, handwriting, facial photo- of a person into the document would be very useful. Furthermore, another sample characteristic study has been developed according to Turkish conditions. In this study, the data derived from personal citizenship ID by using an algorithmic formula has been converted to 2D barcode. By the use of this method, the document has gained copy-protection and a sample model has been created for inquisition.
