Abstract:Bendiocarb is a carbamate pesticide which is widely used and it caused toxic effects on nontarget organisms, especially mammalians. In this study, vitamin C (VC) (100 mg/kg/day), vitamin E (VE) (100 mg/kg/day), VC + VE, bendiocarb (0.8 mg/kg/day), bendiocarb + VC, bendiocarb + VE, bendiocarb + VC + VE were administered by gavage for 28 days. 28 days after the treatment, when the control group and the bendiocarb treated group were compared, an increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) level and a statistically significant decrease in superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutation peroxidase (GPx) and glutation Stransferase (GST) activities were observed. When the bendiocarb treated group and bendiocarb + VC, bendiocarb + VE and bendiocarb + VC + VE groups were compared, a statistically significant increase in SOD, CAT, GPx and GST activities was observed. When the bendiocarb treated group and bendiocarb + VC, bendiocarb + VE and bendiocarb + VC + VE groups were compared, a statistically significant increase in SOD, CAT, GPx and GST activities was observed. When the control group and the bendiocarb treated group were compared, a statistically significant increase was observed in urea, uric acid and creatinine levels. Bendiocarb-treated group and the bendiocarb + VC, bendiocarb + VE and bendiocarb + VC + VE groups were compared, a statistically significant decrease in urea, uric acid and creatinine levels occurred. In light microscopy examinations, tubular degeneration, cell infiltration, edema, necrosis and glomerular atrophy were observed in the kidney tissue of bendiocarb treated rats, and pathological findings were decreased in the bendiocarb plus vitamins groups. In studies of electron microscopy observed swelling and vacuolization of mitochondria of kidney cells of bendiocarb treated groups, whereas less pathological effects were observed in the bendiocarb plus vitamins gropus
