Abstract:

Outbuildings correspond to auxiliary structures with their own unique spatial configurations, which are built in rural areas with traditional architecture to undertake the functions that housing structures are insufficient. In this context, in rural settlements where the economy mostly depends on agriculture and animal husbandry; Barns and barns, barns, woodsheds / manure / coal sheds and warehouses, which have one-to-one relations with the house, are primarily considered among the outbuildings. Within the scope of this study, warehouses, barns and barns, which are documented as a result of the examinations made in the countryside of Çorum province İskilip district, built with local construction techniques and bearing the traces of the past, are discussed. The extinction process is accelerating day by day for these structures, which are not the subject of studies in the literature or where no conservation work has been carried out, and which are the most important part of the production dynamics of the rural life culture. In this context, outbuildings such as barns, warehouses and barns, which preserve their original qualities, were identified and documented within the scope of the documentation work carried out in 11 villages (Seki village, Yanoğlan village, Akçasu village, Hallı village, Hacıhalil village, Yaylacıkseki village, Kurusaray village, Karmıs village, Elmalı village, Karagöz village, Kavak village) of Çorum province, İskilip district. Within the scope of the studies, photographs of the buildings with unique qualities were taken, measurements were taken where necessary, their surveys were prepared, and thus, typological evaluations were made by determining the traditional construction techniques, materials and space setups. The barn, barn and barn structures in the world and in our country were also examined and inferences were made on the fiction and architecture of the outbuildings. The aim of this study is to ensure the continuity of their structural integrity and transfer to the future by documenting the outbuildings that are in danger of extinction due to human and natural causes and that have survived from the past to the present with their original qualities.
