Abstract:

In this study the relationship between verbs and prepositions in classical Arabic were examined. It is known that some semantic events occur as a result of use of verbs with prepositions in Arabic. This semantic events can cause difficulties for Arabic Teaching as a foreign language and reading studies in Arabic and translation studies from Arabic into Turkish. So this study deals with the verbal types with some prepositions and adverbs, syntactic views and semantic relationships between them. Abu al-Qasım Jaarullah Mahmud bin Omar bin Ahmed al-Zamahsheri who was passed away in 1144 is one of great Arabian scholars at Arabic linguistics, Quranic commetary and Arabic eloquence. He was accepted as an authority by lots of researchers and scholars. So his work named Al-Keshshaf an Haqaaiq al-Tanzeel ve Uyun al-Aqaaweel fi Wucuuh al-Tawiil which is written at Quranic commetary field, was prefered as sample of the study. In his work the verbs which are thought that they created collocational phrases with prepositions and adverbs, were fixed at first and then they are listed with their syntactic views and semantic relationships. After listing work it is endevoured to detect the opinion which created these collocational types and the old theories were evaluated. Finally, some suggestions were offered in the light of findings for Arabic teaching field and reading studies in Arabic and translation studies.
