Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between science literacy levels and

self-efficacy belief levels of science teachers in secondary school science teachers. In the

study, the survey model was used since the existing science literacy levels of the teachers

were determined. Data collection tools are “Self Efficacy Belief Scale on Scientific

Literacy” ; “Test of Basic Scientific Literacy” and “Personel Information Form”. Statistical

package program was used in the analysis of data. There was a low positive correlation

between science literacy test scores and self efficacy beliefs (r = 0.116). However, this

relationship was not significant (p> .05). In addition, data were collected from the personal

information form about science teachers' gender, education level, graduation department,

service period, and scientific journal follow-up. The relationship between these variables

and self efficacy beliefs about science literacy and science literacy was examined. In the

study, the relationship between science literacy test scores and educational level variable of

science teachers was found to be significant. It has been concluded that there is no

significant relationship between science teachers’ self efficacy beliefs about science

literacy and gender, education level, graduation department, service period, and scientific

journal follow-up variables.
