Design is a dynamic and multidisciplinary act in which mental and social activities are used together with physical skills, creativity and technology. It has become a necessity to integrate creativity and changing technology into the education system and make them accessible. In routine design act, which is based on modifying old cases and using them in similar new projects, any problem is solved with the same examples over and over. But unlike routine design act, in case-based reasoning old designs are restructured by first decomposing them into function or form related components. Knowledge used in this method, exists implicitly in the mind and transfers experience to design. Similarly, design knowledge which is used in the design education is transformed into an original product at the end of the process. In the Technology and Design course, where basic learning outcomes of the design education are obtained, producing original products, developing different perspectives, embodying thoughts are necessary issues. However the curriculum of the course misses some aspects in terms of design education. Within the scope of this thesis, a two-step preliminary study was conducted. The preliminary study aimed to observe the course's inadequacy on the creation of new product patterns from existing functional components. In the first step, industrial design students and secondary school students are compared on the basis of their responses to the same design problem. In the second step, secondary school students are provided with a manual design platform and their responses are compared with their responses in the first step. According to the findings of this preliminary study, a digital design platform to be used in Technology and Design course in secondary education has been developed in which product function components are combined with case-based reasoning. With this platform, it is aimed to transform the design knowledge that already exists in the mind of the individual into a designed product. Platform software is based on creating new product patterns by combining existing functional components.
