Abstract:

Safranbolu stands out with its traditional residential architecture as the largest district of Karabük, a province of the western Blacksea Region. Traditional Safranbolu House is one of the important issues in the architectural literature with its characteristics of Traditional Turkish House. Safranbolu; According to the structure and settlement characteristics, the district divided into 3 sections as Çarşı, Kıranköy and Bağlar, while the density of traditional dwellings becomes apparent in Bağlar and Çarşı. In this study, 10 bond house plan types selected from Safranbolu Baglar, Bağlarbasi location with respect to their building materials, old functioning of housing units and current functioning criteria. When analyzing the plan typologies, it is generalized that frequency of openings become rare on the northern-side than southern-side of the buildings. A catalog planning is carried out between the selected houses in the region and the relationship between the street, the plan types and facades. The functioning of the spaces within the houses is objected in daily life, which lead common features to revealed and the situations in the way of adapting to the present are determined. As a result of this study; Although the plan type characteristics of the Traditional Turkish House and the Traditional House of Safranbolu allow the plan typologies to unite with itself, it is determined that the vineyard houses are unique structures and differentiate from each other and they are formed according to the need.
