The Place of the Short Story in Teaching Arabic to Foreigners

Abstract:

The problems encountered in the teaching of Arabic in Imam-Hatip High Schools indicate that there is a need for change in this field. The programs and books which are constantly changing in Arabic teaching and the methods and techniques used in the teaching process clearly reveal this need. In this study, Arabic Teaching Program with Short Stories was prepared for the ninth grade students of Imam Hatip High School in order to contribute to the elimination of this need.. The program was applied to the ninth grade students of Science and Social Sciences Project School Ankara Imam Hatip High School. In order to reveal whether the applied program was effective in Arabic teaching process, experimental design with pretest and posttest control group was used from the true experimental designs. In addition to this, a questionnaire was applied to the students in order to get their opinions. At the end of the study, it was revealed that Arabic Teaching Program with Short Stories had a significant difference in Arabic language skills of students. The study consists of six chapters, including introduction, theoretical background, methods, findings and comments, Arabic curriculum with short stories and lessons and results.
