In this study, praseodymium doped fiber amplifier (PDFA) characteristics have been analyzed by forward, backward and bidirectional pumping. In each analysis, gain spectrum analysis, praseodymium doped fiber (PDF) length analysis, pump laser power analysis, input signal power analysis and pump wavelength analysis have been performed for each pumping direction. At first, the parameter values of PKFY system for forward pumping have been changed and the parameter values giving the optimum output gain have been tried to be determined. And then the parameter values obtained for forward pumping have been used for backward and bidirectional pumping. However, the gain and noise factor have been analyzed by being changed the parameter values for each pumping direction. These analyzes have been carried out by being simulated in the Optisystem 16.0 program. In the simulation medium, the gain spectrum, PKF length, pump laser power, input signal power and pump wavelength parameters have been obtained respectively optimal gain for firsly forward, and then backward and bidirectional pumping. While making the analysis, the values giving the most ideal output gain in the previous analysis have been used in the next analysis stage. As a result, the parameter values of the PKFY system model in different pumping directions have been changed in order for optimal gain. The gain and noise factor have been analyzed both for each pumping direction and for the ideal parameter values obtained.
