Abstract:The aim of this research is to determine some technological specifications of woods of Scots pine, oriental beech and sessile oak which are impregnated with fire-retardant substances. To achieve this goal, test substances prepared from woods of Scots pine, oriental beech and sessile oak according to TS EN 345 regulations are impregnated with ammonium sulfate [(NH4) S04], sodium acetate (CH3COONa), aluminum chloride (AlCl3), borax [Na2B4O7.5H2O], boric acid [H3BO3] and, borax+boric acid (%50+%50) via dipping method according to ASTM D 1413 regulations. The densities of impregnated specimens were determined according to TS 2472 regulations, the pressure resistances of impregnated specimens were determined according to TS 2595 regulations, the bending resistances and the modulus of elasticities for bending of impregnated specimens were determined according to TS EN 408 regulations, and the burning characteristics of impregnated specimens were determined according to ASTM E 160 regulations. At the end of the experiment; trial of preservative used in Beech, Oak and Scots pine at some of the physical, mechanical and combustion properties was affected.
