Abstract:

Digital printing technologies have developed very rapidly at the beginning of the new millennium and it is foreseen that this development will continue in the future. Digital printing has been an alternative to offset printing in many ways. While conventional printing systems continue to exist, digital printing technologies that provide customer-oriented approaches such as low cost printing costs, high print speed and print quality, product variety, personalized prints, environmental sensitivity, flexibility, etc. has replaced traditional printing systems with quality solutions. It has also revolutionized the printing industry by introducing innovations that reduce machine set-up preparations, streamline intermediate processes, save manpower and increase productivity. Therefore, it is important for the physical, chemical and printability of digital printing technology and for the examination of post-printing processes. In this study, firstly, the effect of paper surface structure on image quality, which is the most important of printability parameters, is examined. Then, pleating and embossing were applied to the printing surfaces of the papers with different properties printed by electro-photographic system. In the electro-photographic printing system, it was observed that the surface structures of the papers were the most important factors affecting the print quality. Electrophotographic system can be easily processed in pre-printing and post-printing processes to obtain products of the desired quality.
