Abstract:

The concept of "green", which managed to have a place in transportation sector in the late 1980s, has helped to create the awareness of the environmental problems caused by transportation systems. In the early 1990s, there were several researches conducted on minimizing the environmental damage by using environment-friendly technologies in logistics applications. The concept of "green" has been integrated with logistics, and a new application area named "green logistics" -which is related to the goods produced and delivered for the aim of sustainability by taking environmental and social factors into consideration, and which aims to evaluate the environmental effects of various delivery strategies, to decrease the energy usage in the logistic activities, to reduce the waste and to control waste process- has come out. The applications of the green logistics, being commonly used day by day all over the world, have started to take place in company policies in Turkey. In this study, we have compiled the data obtained as a result of the researches about the green logistics, and we have discussed the signs of the green logistics in Turkey within the scope of the data mentioned. At the end of the study, we have presented the signs of the green logistics, the applications of the green logistics in Turkey and suggestions about how the essential regulations should be.
