Abstract:The numerical investigation of liquid jet in crossflow is a study that is especially done for engines like ramjets and scramjets and main purpose of the study is to decide mixture properties of the phenomenon. It is also seen in agricultural spraying, rocket engines and cooling systems. At the first stage of the study, the numerical study is validated with results gathered from chosen experimental study. The method used for this validation is transient VOF (Volume of Fluid) analysis. The analysis is done for various dimensionless parameter namely momentum flux ratio (q=18, q=27, q=36) and Weber number (We=1,32; We=3,84; We=5,38; We=10,68; We=11,91; We=12,73; We=15,38; We=20,58; We=33,1; We=64.87 and We=107.24), and also for jet velocity (𝑉𝑗=2,1 m/s, 𝑉𝑗=4,45 m/s, 𝑉𝑗=5,46 m/s, 𝑉𝑗=6,30 m/s and 𝑉𝑗=10,40 m/s,), crossflow velocity (𝑉𝑎=10 m/s, 𝑉𝑎=30 m/s, 𝑉𝑎=50 m/s, 𝑉𝑎=60 m/s, 𝑉𝑎=70 m/s and 𝑉𝑎=90 m/s), crossflow temperature (𝑇𝑎 = 18 °𝐶, 𝑇𝑎 = 200 °𝐶 and 𝑇𝑎 = 300 °𝐶) and type of fluid as (water, acetone and kerosene). At the first stage study, the results gathered from these analyses compared with chosen experimental study. And by doing this, the multiphase modeling parameters and turbulence modeling parameters are validated. At the second phase of the study, the analyses have been done for kerosene which is main component of the jet fuel. All the results are accumulated and grouped into two different sets. One for unheated crossflow and one for heated crossflow. The results for these two groups are expressed with an equation by using curve fitting techniques. The compatibility of these two techniques is also evaluated in terms of their individual 𝑅2 values. And according to the results gathered from this study, the equations are in line with the results from validated analyses with 𝑅2 values of minimum 0,973 and maximum 0,991 for the length of 10 jet diameter which is study constraint.
