Abstract:

In this study, Al based composite materials contain 10 % Alumina (Al2O3) was produced by using powder metallurgy technique. To prepare mixture of Al and Al2O3 powders tree different methods were used as milling in turbola, ball mill and high energy atritör for 4 hours. Then mixed powders were compacted at constant pressing pressure (500 MPa) to produce block specimens with dimensions Ø10 x 25 mm. Compacted samples were then sintered at 640, and 660C for 2 h under argon atmosphere in a tube furnace. Before and after sintering density of samples were calculated and compared. Abrasive wear test of sintered samples were made under three different load (10-20-30N) and three type emery (100-220-400 mesh). All of the results were evaluated. Then effects of mixing technique on the wear properties of composites were determined according to wear results.
