Abstract:
This study focuses on the vineyard culture and vineyard houses in the province of Tokat in the context of preserving rural architecture. The aim of the study; It is to complete a part of the few studies in the literature related to the viticulture and vineyard houses by documenting the vineyard houses named "Gümele" and "Alaçık" located in the provincial borders of Tokat with catalogs are prepared on a single building scale. Scope of work; 17 vineyard houses found in Zile and Kazova regions within the borders of Tokat were documented using on-site detection and analysis methods. In the first part of the study, which consists of seven parts including the introduction and conclusion parts, the aim, scope and method of the study are explained. In the second part, physical and historical characteristics of Tokat province, which is the subject of the thesis, are given. In the third part, academic studies on vineyard houses and viticulture, which are temporary settlement types in Turkey, are presented. In the fourth part, the viticulture in Tokat is explained, Zile and Kazova regions where the vineyard houses called Gümele and Alaçık are located are defined and catalogs are prepared for 17 vineyard houses on a single building scale are presented. In line with the field studies and catalogs are prepared in the fifth chapter, street-vineyard-dwelling relationship, plan features, spatial elements, construction technique and material analysis of Tokat vineyard houses were evaluated and similarities and differences between them and other vineyard settlements in Turkey were determined. In the sixth chapter, the studies on the protection of the rural architectural heritage and the steps for the protection of Tokat vineyard houses through the examples applied in Turkey are explained. In the conclusion section, which is the seventh section, suggestions are made for the Tokat vineyard houses, called Gümele and Alaçık, to be passed on to future generations without deterioration.
