Abstract:

In this thesis study, Barutçu Mansion located in Kastamonu Province, Central District, Ismailbey District, Aşağı İmaret Yolu Street, no: 28 is the subject of the study. The purpose of study is, documentation of the present situation of the building, which is one of the traditional Kastamonu Houses, introducing a restoration proposal for protection and transferring the cultural heritage to future generations. Within the scope of the study, the current state of the building and the changes it has undergone have been documented, the immediate surroundings of the building have been investigated, the comparative study of the houses in Kastamonu has been made and the original situation of the building has been determined. As a result of the study, a restoration proposal was prepared to evaluate the collected data and to make the determined physical interventions function as a hostel.
