Abstract:In the organization of cities, sociocultural data and social form are important as much as the physical data. The needs of society, such as housing, work spaces, social unification and interaction areas and green areas are important in the planning of cities. One of these places is stadium structures. Stadium buildings were structures where only games were played in the past, but nowadays they have become important structures in terms of introducing the identity of the cities and reflecting the prestige of the teams. Because of this, different formal quests have been the subject of stadiums. The main component that organizes the different formal quests in the stadiums is the covering system covering the tribunes. In this thesis; the structural and constructive elements of the covering systems in the stadiums have been determined, it is aimed to investigate the effect of these on the stadium formation. Structural system of the cover that influences the formation of stadium construction and shaping decisions have been determined and a table analysis method has been tried to be done. In the introduction part, after explaining the purpose and method of the thesis, in the second part, shaping structure, cover shaping approaches, structural system types and building materials have been explained. In the third part, stadium definition, stadium types and historical development of stadiums have been explained. In the fourth chapter; stadium samples, built in Turkey and abroad, have been analyzed with analysis table, which includes the structure and material of cover systems, shaping structure and shaping approach of cover system. In the conclusion part which is the fifth part of the study, the stadium structures in Turkey and abroad have been compared and evaluated, it was determined that the designer has designed stadium structures in more freeform owing to the development of the structure of cover system
