Abstract:

This study is conducted with the purpose of assessing to what degree teachers of Arabic at Anatolian İmam Hatip High Schools employ error correction strategies during reading practices of students in the classroom, what kind of methods they follow while correcting students' mistakes, and how successful they are at correcting students' mistakes. Both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection are employed in this study for variegation. As an experimental research, the study includes a questionnaire carried out in nine Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools in Ankara, on both teachers and students, the results of which were reflected onto the tables. While learning any language, it is quite difficult not to make any mistakes. What is important is to try to learn the language in the most flawless way and to correct the mistakes in the most efficient manner. One of the most important issues of teaching Arabic in the classroom is the techniques with which the classes are taught. In this thesis, answers to the questions such as; to what extend teachers of Arabic are successful at correcting students' reading mistakes, how effective these mistake correction techniques on students are, what methods must be followed, and what else must be done while teaching Arabic are sought.
