The data was collected by the researcher through a literatary approach. Questionnaires were provided to patients before their surgeries and on the 2nd and 4th weeks following surgery. Descriptive statistical methods (numbers, percentage mean, standard deviation) and McNemar test were used in evaluating the data. According to the results of the study, it was found that at the end of the second week following the surgeries, 78% of the patients experienced pain at the surgical site, 62.5% suffered from nausea, 53.1% from constipation, 40.6% from frequent waking up at night, 46.9% from walking properly due to pain, 59.4% from bathing on their own and 34.3% from delays in starting work. It was also observed that at the end of 4th week following surgeries, most of the patients managed to overcome these difficulties. In conclusion, in light of the findings of this study it was determined that patients experienced intensive problems during the first 2 weeks of the one-month period following the surgeries; however, these problems gradually lessened. With regard to the findings, it was suggested that patients and patients relatives should receive well-scheduled patient training and consultancy services following the surgeries.
