Abstract:Since the end of the last century, increases in the automotive industry, advances in transport facilities and population explosions have led to increasing traffic congestion in big cities. One of the reasons for this complication is the parking problem that can not be solved. Even the cars in the parking lots are considered to be problematic in the city. The cars looking for parking spaces in the traffic define a different problem. The vehicles that do not know the location of the parking place or have gone to the known parking lot but have not found a place increase the traffic density and congestion in the city centers and cause time and energy losses. A significant part of the studies on reducing traffic congestion in the city centers is about 'Parking Guidance Information Systems'. In this study, the structure and working principles of Parking Guidance Information Systems are explained with good practice examples. As a result of the work, a software developed for parking garages in Ankara city center is presented as a sample application. Science Code : 80211 Key Words
