Abstract:

Nowadays, due to developing technology in the world, human is exposed to the electromagnetic fields increasingly by using electronical systems. In this thesis, theoretically, electromagnetifc field and basic definitions, electromagnetic fields sources, the health effects of electromagnetic fields, the limit values of national and international instituons and the protection from electromagnetic fields are described. Firstly, widely used mobile phones, microwave owens, DECT phones and WLAN s electromagnetic field's amplitude are measured at different distances eg. 1cm, 10 cm, 30 cm, 1m and compared to limit values of electromagnetic field amplitude in Turkey. Then, the amplitude of the electromagnetic field is measured in a school in Ankara and the results of this measurement compared to the limit values in the relevant regulations.
