Abstract:

Niğde is one of our provinces that still contains the traces of past civilizations. Especially intense architectural works of the Ottoman period are still available and in use. However, over time, in the houses that form the traditional texture, ruptures have begun to be experienced with the changing housing concept depending on the changing and transforming life dynamics. Traditional texture, 20th century. As of today, it has lost its character and lost its original features with abandonment and transformations. One of the limited number of structures that make up the texture with the condition of preserving its original features is the residential building located on the 4th parcel of block 613. The building has been abandoned over time and largely preserves its original features; however, it is in the process of deteriorating due to various reasons, especially neglect. Before the building suffers further damage and loses its original values, it is necessary to document it in detail and to determine the necessary interventions to preserve its original state. In this context, a study has been carried out for the protection and restoration of the registered residence located in Eskisaray District, which is one of the valuable examples of Niğde traditional residences, which are decreasing day by day. Within the scope of the study, the current state of the building was documented by laser scanning method, the original features of the building were determined by making a literature study, its values and problems were determined, and intervention decisions were made. In line with the findings obtained from the existing building and its environment, a restoration project that is suitable for today's conditions and needs and includes correct intervention decisions has been prepared and presented for disabled individuals in a current sustainable context.
