Abstract:In this research, the Effects of Activities about Professions Conducted in Secondary School Social Studies Lessons on Students' Choice of Profession are tried to be specified. In the research, mixed method, qualitative and quantitative methods have been used together. In the quantitative dimension of the research, in an experimental pattern framework, quantitative data have been collected based upon hypotheses and statistical analysis of these data has been done by means of Multivariate Model. Besides, current state analysis has been done by means of screening method. The research includes 200 5th, 6th and 7th class students attending in Yukarıkocayatak Boarding School in 2012-2013 Academic Year, Genetic engineering drama activity has been conducted to 5A, 6A and 7A students, Dietetics film activity has been conducted to 5B, 6B and 7B students, Chemical engineering resource person application conducted to 5C, 6C and 7C students. As part of the qualitative dimension of the research, qualitative data have been collected via document analysis and interview then these data have been analysed. In the document analysis of the research, 2005 Social Studies Curriculum, the activities in Social Sciences 5th, 6th and 7th class student workbooks and the way the theme professions is operated have been examined. Interview has been conducted with students who choose Genetic Engineering after the drama activity and change the choice of profession one month after the activity. At the end of the research, it has been specified that the activities in Social Studies lessons related to professions affect 5th and 6th class students' choices of profession. The activities have not had the same effect on 7th class students. In Social Studies Curriculum, the theme professions takes place in secondary school 5th, 6th and 7th class course books and student workbooks. There are subjects and activities paralleled with course gains. The curriculum and books have been prepared according to constructivist approach.
