Abstract:

Within the scope of this study, the process of identifying the technical expertise areas in which the expert needs is a priority was analyzed and various reports were developed with Microsoft Power BI business intelligence application for the information needed in this process. In this context, the existing data sources within a public institution were utilized and a sample application was developed to provide objective input to managers in decision making processes. This application helped the decision makers of the organization to develop a positive attitude towards the utilization of stored data for their business and the demands for such practices increased. In addition to that, in order to measure the effectiveness of the business intelligence application developed, the data of interviews with 5 people were examined through the semi structured interview form prepared by the researcher. Through the examination, the strengths of the application were determined as; users can prepare flexible reports by changing the report criteria without being dependent on the information processing unit, change the types of graphics used in the report according to their needs, and edit the graphics visually. On the other hand, the main weak parts of the application were stated as; the application cannot be integrated with other business applications, users need to know the data structure of the existing data sources and users need advanced Excel knowledge in some cases.
