Abstract:The individual, who possesses a constantly evolving structure, is in a state of communication by affecting the society and surrounding environment as well. In this dynamism, it is essential to be educated in order to establish a healthy relationship between the individual and his / her environment. By acknowledging the dependence of the individual and society, the development of art is directly proportional. Art is one of the main factors for the development of countries in many ways. One of the most important branches of art is 'music education'. Music education is vital in the communication and development of individuals; also it has a very important place in Child Development. Many studies on this subject indicate that the children's progress in music acquisition affects them positively in many ways. With the constantly altering and evolving diversity of music, the rapid advancement of technology and the cumulative access to information, it has become unchallenging for children to reach the music, song and artist they desire. This has led to a frequent renewal of popular types of music and an easy forgetting of the old. At the first level of primary education in our country, students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades acquire knowledge of music in classrooms with Classroom Teachers, while 4th grade students are taught by music teacher. Therefore, by the 4th level of primary education, students' preparation in music lessons was found to be inadequate. It has also been observed that students ' preferences in listening to music are the new generation popular artists on social media. The music which is desired by students affects them in Cognitive, Affective and social terms and plays an important role in their character formation. In this context, this master's thesis was designed to determine the effects of four different periods of music on 4th grade students in primary levels. It is a descriptive research by its nature and a screening model has been applied. The groups of study for the purpose of research have been formed from Ankara Emel Önal I.O. 4-B Class, Ankara Cahit Zarifoğlu I.O. 4-C Class and Ankara Özel Zeka Kuşağı Koleji I.O. 4-A class. The research is carried out by applying likert scale and multiple choice questions prepared by the researcher. To demonstrate the effects of the musical works on the Elementary IV students and to contribute to the elimination of the deficiencies in the literature in this field, this Research is crucial.
