Abstract:

Combi boiler is a heating system that works with natural gas, LPG, electricity or other fuels and is used in homes or small businesses. Combi boilers are an important tool used to heat homes and meet hot water needs, and they need to be cleaned regularly. Combi boiler cleaning chemicals are special chemical products used for regular cleaning and maintenance of combi boilers. These chemicals are used to prevent the water in the combi from getting dirty and from accumulating residues and to make the combi work more efficiently. However, boiler cleaning chemicals can affect metal and plastic parts and shorten the life of these parts. This thesis aims to analyze the wear effect of combi boiler cleaning chemicals on central heating parts and to develop an anti-wear method. Within the scope of the study, the wear rates of the central heating parts were measured as a result of the experiments carried out using different combi cleaning chemicals. Sentinel X100 and Deren 110 chemicals (0.5 lt) were diluted with 3.5 lt water and circulated separately in the combi system at 80̊ C for two weeks and contacted with the central heating parts. The wear rate of metal parts was measured by water analysis method. The samples taken from the chemical water mixture given to the system before the experiment and the chemical water mixture coming out of the system after the experiment were analyzed in the external laboratory. The wear rate on plastic parts was determined from measurements (size, weight with precision balance, compression ratio, hardness) and surface/burr control performed on the parts before and after the test. In this context, it has been determined that some chemicals have a significant wear effect on the central heating parts. Thus, the service life of the central heating components and the boiler performance may be adversely affected. Taking all the tests into account, as a result of the thesis, an anti-corrosion method was developed with the chemical manufacturer company. The results of the thesis study may be useful for combi boiler manufacturers and users and may help extend the life of central heating parts.
