Abstract:Beamforming networks are important blocks of directing antenna beam in a desired direction for self-protection and target radar jamming in electronic warfare systems. Due to the beamformer used in phased array system, antenna beam can be electronically steered without rotating the antenna. In this thesis, initially active and passive phased array structures were investigated. Then, various beamforming techniques were described and compared each other. Finally, 8-channel active analog beamformer with TTD networks for 2-4 GHz (S-band) frequency range was designed, fabricated, measured and compared with simulation results. With the designed structure, phase and amplitude control of each channel can be done independently.
