The evolotion of saltukname in terms of value education

Abstract:

The Saint menkibes, which are a literature outcome of Turkish Culture in the İslamic Age, are important literary works because of the source of the investigation of Turkish Culture with historical, sociologic, psychological, and folkloric ways. Georaphically the most widen Turkish epics and menakıbnâmes in all of them is Saltuknâme. In this study, the values were identified from Saltuknâme written by Ebu'l-Hayr-ı Rûmî between 1473 and 1480, and being a synthesis of gazavatnames and vilayetnâmes in these menkıbes and the use of this work in value education was discussed with its functionality. In this research, the concept of value, properties, functions, and classification of values; value education, the role of family, school, teacher, literature, and literary work in value education; were examined. Afterwards, a framework was formed with utilizing given information about the symoblic statements and concepts such as tevhit (unity), gaza (holy war in İslam), fatah (conquering) to guide our understanding. The identified values in Saltuknâme were calissified in terms of moral, political, social, religion, aesthetic, scientific, and economic values, which are examined under each specific title. As a results of the study, moral values are the most frequently mentioned values in Saltukname, then social and religion values are quite common in Saltukname. The identified values based on these analysis clearly show that as Sarı Saltuk willingly acts to raise "ideal human", he is an action initiator as a public hero who draws the border of Seljuk and Ottoman civilisations.That Saltuknâme proves being possible the value education would make more functional via literary works and it was concluded that it would significantly contribute the literature in this sense.
