Abstract:This study was carried out descriptively to identify the nursing interventions in the department of interventional radiology. The research sample included the nurses working in the department of the interventional radiology of the hospitals which have this department in Ankara. The selection of the sample was not performed in the research. The study included 31 nurses who accepted to participate in the research and who work in the departments of interventional radiology of the hospitals permitting the research. By benefiting from the related literature for collecting the data, the questionnaire form prepared by the researcher was used. The ranges of the frequency, average, Standard deviation and the percentage numbers were used for the assesment of data. According to the findings of the research, it was identified that the nurses provided the interventional information to the patient before the process. This interventional information requires more often technical skills (receiving the vital finding, finding the intravenous route, preparation for the skin, assessment of the laboratory finding). During the process, it was identified that the nurses mostly performed the interventions for creating the steril setting and helping the physicians, monitorizing the patient, administering the drugs which were necessarry in the application. After the process, it was identified that the nurses performed the other interventional activities such as following up the patient s vital findings, safety transportation of the patient, bleeding control, training the patient and his/her relatives, dressing the process area and clossing it, examining the patient neurologically, administration of the drugs which were necessary after the process and the patient mobilisation. It was identified that the nurses accepted the nursing interventions pre-,during- and post process cited in the literature as the responsibility in the high rate. In accordance with the results cited above, the recommendations are as follows:carrying out the studies which will demonsrate the role of the interventional nursing, investigating the training programs associated with the nursing of interventional radiology fort he nurses and performing the studies for creating the procedures and politics in the interventions of the interventional radiology nurses in hospitals.
