Abstract:

The area management boundary in cultural heritage areas is a multi-dimensional spatial boundary as a means of protection, planning and management. In this thesis, handling tangible and intangible cultural heritage and planning goals with a value-oriented approach over immovable cultural heritage offers important possibilities for determining the area management boundary. In this evaluation, the criteria of protection, use, economic value, transportation and access, social and cultural value of cultural heritage were found to be concretely measurable. An analytical hierarchy process-based assessment system was established to reveal the effects of these criteria on the border. The results obtained through scoring made in the evaluation system were handled with the GIS-supported spatial parametric analysis and applied to Ankara Ulus Historical City Center within the framework of the proposed method. Thus, the continuity of the immovable cultural heritage in space and the impact of measurable factors on the border in the determination of the area management boundary in urban cultural heritage areas has been revealed. The proposed method is introduced as a boundary determination method that can be used at the beginning of the boundary setting process and is based on spatial analysis
